The Ivana Helsinki Fashion Show at Fashion Week 2011 was amazing! I loved every minute.
My photographer friend, Cheryl, the owner of Windsong Photography, and I drove into NYC in the late afternoon on February 17th. Ivana Helsinki show was the closing event for the week. After getting completely stuck at the entrance to Lincoln Tunnel, we finally made it to the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts. The runway show took place at The Studio. Since we were there on behalf of The King Collective, we were able to get in through the tents at the back stage. We were given press passes and free roam of the area. So cool!
The name of the collection for this show was the Velvet Lake for the S/S 2011. Ivana Helsinki is a Finnish brand. The name of the designer is Paola Suhonen. Paola works with her sister, Pirjo Suhonen. They were both super nice; always with smiles on their faces.
The make up team, as at the Richie Rich show, was that of the Freelance Artist and Lead, Brian C. Hawkins. The make up was, once again, amazing, as were the high fashion hair styles, created by Edward Tricomi and the Warren-Tricomi team. It was so great to see it all done behind the closed doors. The experience is like being on America’s Next Top Model in person.
The make up line used by Brian C. Hawkins and his team was generously provided by Mirabella Beauty, the official sponsor for Brian’s team.
A bit more about the fashion: Ivana Helsinki was the first Scandinavian brand to show at IMG Fashion Week. Last season was their debut. Velvet Lake is the second time they showed at IMG. Let me tell you. I LOVED the clothes. They were flowing and feminine. Any figure would look great in the tunics and dresses. The clothes looked totally comfortable. Yes, I checked out the catalog the very next day.
Other sponsors taking part in the show were:
fragrance by Kristiansand
shoes and clutches by Seychelles (AWESOME boots!)
pamphlet by Helsinkio Capital Design
music on gift CD by DJ Cachi from Fashion Indie
programs by Ali Graphics
jewelry by Karen Ko (LOVED the jewelry, Ladies!)
Everything was styled in a high fashion way. It was chic and exciting.
Thank you, Cheryl! Thank you Nimatha from the King Collective!
